FAQ:
Hiring a Captain or Guide Service for
your fishing charter is a big decision. With all the
internet sites that now advertise and promote their
business, I designed this page to help with client inquiries
and hopefully make your choice a little easier. Below are
some of the frequently asked questions that I receive.
Q: How long have you been a guide? A: Go Fish
Charters Inc has been guiding clients for tarpon, snook, red
fish, and many other species for over 10 years. I am a fifth
generation Floridian and have lived and fished in Southwest
Florida my entire life. I am a US Coast Guard Licensed
Captain, I have an occupational license for Lee and
Charlotte Counties, I carry commercial charter insurance for
my boat and clients, I also carry a saltwater fishing
license and all the permits necessary to run a legal charter
service, I am also registered as a Florida Corporation in
the state of Florida and can produce all the necessary
documents to do business by request, or you can feel free to
check with local and state agencies about my company and
encourage you to check me out, so you know your charter will
be done by a licensed and insured professional
Q: How
much does a fishing trip cost? A: You Need To Call Me
Toll Free At 1-888-880-0006 Rates quoted are for entire
boat. Not per angler. All necessary license, bait, tackle,
and an on board cooler with ice and water is provided
Q: Who is our fishing Guide? A: Capt Andy Boyette. I
personally do all of my fishing charters I am not a booking
service so when you hire Go Fish Charters you fish with me.
I do have other well qualified guides that help me with
multiple boat trips. I use these same guides to help me
every year and have the up most confidence in their
abilities. Being that I am one person, one boat and make my
living 100% as your fishing guide, in an event outside my
control, that prevent me from personally being available, I
will contact you as soon as possible, If I can not contact
you, I will personally meet you at the pickup location and
time of your trip. If I will be unavailable to be you guide,
I will have arranged for another qualified guide to take my
place. This is done out of courtesy with understanding that
you have came here to fish, and it is your right to accept
or decline this replacement. If you chose not to accept this
replacement and or do not wish to reschedule, all deposits
and or monies are returned promptly. I take such events
personal and they are rare and limited to Acts of God such
as weather, equipment failure, illness, etc.
Q: Do we
need to book in advance? A: Yes, the best chance for you
to get a day that fits your schedule is to call in advance.
The months of March, April, May, June, and July are prime
months with May-July devoted to tarpon fishing only and
should be booked with as much advanced notice as possible.
Q: Where do you fish? A: All of Southwest Florida.
Which Includes Charlotte Harbor, Fort Myers, Pine Island
Sound, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Boca Grande Pass,
Sanibel, Englewood.
Q: What can we expect to catch?
A: Tarpon, snook, redfish, jack crevelle or sharks from
Englewood to Boca Grande, Charlotte Harbor area south
through Pine Island and Fort Myers. Southwest Florida has a
multitude of fish species available to target with light
tackle. Trout, mackerel, ladyfish, snapper, grouper,
pompano, bluefish and flounder. Cobia, triple tail and
permit are also available during certain parts of the year.
Q: What do we need to bring? A: All tackle, rods, and
reels are provided unless you want to use your personal
equipment. Each person is advised to wear a hat and
sunscreen. Good polarized sunglasses are recommended for
spotting fish. Bring any food and drinks you want. I keep
plenty of ice onboard so you don't need to pack a cooler.
Canned alcohol is allowed, but if it gets out of hand the
trip is over!
Q: Do we need a fishing license? A:
No. My license covers up to four people fishing on my boat
including snook stamps, and all applicable fishing license .
Q: What is the best time to catch tarpon? A:
May-July. However late fall in Charlotte Harbor can be
extremely good, these tarpon are somewhat less predictable,
but there is much less fishing pressure then and most of my
best days of the year come during these times.
Q: Do
you offer any package deals for multiple bookings? A: No,
I work just as hard on multiple day trips as I do on single
day trips and my overhead doesn't get any less just because
you'll book more than one day.
Q: Are you a Head Boat
or Party Boat and do you split trips? A: No. I do private
guided charters in the backcountry and near shore waters of
Southwest Florida with maximum of 4 anglers on a boat
Q: Do You require a deposit to book a date. A: A $150
per day per boat deposit for back country and 6hr tarpon
charters $250 for 10hr and whole day tarpon charters is
required to book and hold a reservation. This is fully
refundable if there is bad weather on the day of your
charter (captain's discretion), or you must cancel prior to
March 1st. If you cancel after March 1st, your deposit will
only be refunded if I rebook your date. I accept most major
credit cards, (Visa, Master Card, Discover and American
Express). As Captain, I have the final say as to whether the
trip will be canceled or postponed if the weather turns bad.
There are many creeks and islands to hide from the wind
should unexpected weather conditions arise, but high winds
and lightning are always a sign to get off the water. If the
weather is unfishable, your deposit will be refunded. If a
trip is already underway, but is cut short due to inclement
weather, the trip costs will be prorated.
